S​ummary

NAFEMS is the International Association for the Engineering Modelling, Analysis and Simulation Community. Established in 1983 as a not-for-profit organisation, NAFEMS now represents over 1,500 member organisations globally. We are currently seeking a motivated and versatile professional to join our technical team.

This is a unique opportunity for an early-career engineer or scientist to gain exposure to the global engineering simulation industry. Working in the technical team, you will act as a link between NAFEMS' strategic goals and the technical outputs of our 18 International Working Groups. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of sound engineering fundamentals and technological agility.

Responsibilities

The role requires an individual who is flexible and capable of taking responsibility for a wide range of tasks. Responsibilities of the role include:

Technical Committee Liaison

  • Support the CTO and Technical Officer in managing and administrating the NAFEMS Technical Working Groups.
  • Attend committee meetings as a NAFEMS representative, providing guidance on organisational policies, procedures, and strategic objectives.
  • Assist in transforming technical discussions into actionable roadmaps. Helping to ensure that committee initiatives are executed efficiently.

Technical Content Development

  • Support the end-to-end production of NAFEMS highly respected textbooks and white papers, including technical and editorial review of manuscripts, proofing, and layout management.
  • Collaborate with world-class subject matter experts to capture, edit, organise and host content for our training platform.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the NAFEMS web platform by building technical webpages and assisting in the design of new features.

Operational Process Optimisation

  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance department efficiency through the design and implementation of automated database management workflows. •
  • Contribute to the development of resource archival and search tools.

Q​ualifications & Requirements

The candidate is expected to have obtained a degree in a STEM discipline.

The ideal applicant would have experience working in the engineering simulation sector and have knowledge of at least one specific simulation domain e.g. Computational Fluid Dynamics, Multibody Dynamics, Computational Structural Mechanics, Computational Electromagnetics.

The candidate should be a self starter who is capable of rapidly learning new software tools, including web CMS, python scripting, multimedia suites for video editing and tools for database management and process automation.

The role requires an individual who is proactive, with the ability to navigate group dynamics and work in a positive, enthusiastic manner with our community of volunteers.

The candidate should be articulate and be capable of presenting and writing in a manner that clearly communicates ideas.

The role is open to international applicants but there is a requirement to work in accordance with UK business hours.
